Part of what I love about the girls' names is that they were both popular 100 years ago and many people with those names are now great-grandmas. Both names evoke a vision for me of sweet old ladies rocking away together on a porch. I pray Ella and Sadie will live meaningful lives full of love and will be enjoying each other on a front porch somewhere many years from now.

Easter Egg Dyeing!

Being creative and artsy is totally up my alley and Ella's so egg dyeing was a much anticipated event.  We had intended to let Sadie be involved but ended up she needed to go to bed and it was a blessssssing that we didn't try to involve a 20 month old in something involving dye.  We had a blast!

Prepping the dyes!  Learned that the brightest colors are made with vinegar instead of water.  Worked well!

Chris trying out the "tie-dye" technique
Ella had insane patience in holding the egg to try out a half blue/half green design (her current favorite colors)

Adventure Day

Spring Break has been a ton a fun. We took the kids on a surprise "adventure day."  We borrowed a minivan so we could all ride together and told the kids nothing about what we were going to do!  We drove about an hour away and hit up 3 awesome spots for a really fun day.  The kids were surprised and delighted with all we'd planned.  God really blessed the day-there was an Easter Egg Hunt we didn't even know about that fit perfectly with our time line, Sadie caught cat naps in the car and was hardly cranky all day. LOTS of fun!

First Stop...the kids' beloved...WAFFLE HOUSE!!!

Second Stop, a huge petting zoo!
They had everything from hour old baby chicks to Zebras and kangaroos!  We got to go on a hayride, milk cows, feed tons of sheep, llamas, and goats and more.  Plus, they had a pretty elaborate Easter Egg Hunt just as we were finishing up with the animals!

Last stop...A Dairy Farm for fresh ice cream and feeding calves

Spring Break rocks :-)

New Babies!

Recently two of my good friends had babies the same week in the same hospital!  And I got to go visit them once they were home.  Fun to snuggle newborns!!

My precious friend since freshman year of college, Annie and her new baby Peter
Annie's super cute older kids-Joe (22 months) and Lucy (3)

Sadie is running away with Lucy's babydoll-oy, this girl!

Same day, new baby!  On to meet baby Carolina Jane, the first baby for my sweet grad school friend, Kate

Another friend from grad school joined us with her cutie, Shane :-)

Thank God for all these healthy, new babies and godly families raising them.  What a blessing!

Faces of Sadie-20 months

We've got a toddler folks.  She can express her opinions with the best of 'em now.  No full on tantrums yet but she'll definitely cry and run away if she's not happy.
discovered pockets and lovin' 'em

And we were worried about her hair growing when she was a baby?

She loves Elmo (and books)

She's quite the drawing fan, especially magna doodle (which is great because she's been known to eat crayons)

Still enjoying this little girl a ton but I must say, it was MUCH easier when she was a baby.  We're in the stage where taking her on errands is avoided.  She doesn't like staying in the cart or staying with me and chasing a toddler through Target is not my idea of fun.  Otherwise, she's still super funny, sweet and loves cleaning and seems to be a precocious talker.  Love her!
