Part of what I love about the girls' names is that they were both popular 100 years ago and many people with those names are now great-grandmas. Both names evoke a vision for me of sweet old ladies rocking away together on a porch. I pray Ella and Sadie will live meaningful lives full of love and will be enjoying each other on a front porch somewhere many years from now.

If you have a free 6 minutes and want to laugh...

This has nothing to do with Ella, I just think it's the funniest thing I've seen in a year so I thought I'd share :-)

When not otherwise entertained...

Snow Day!!!

We had the best snow day last week! I was thrilled to get home from North Carolina on Sunday just in time for the biggest snow of the year (maybe the biggest since we moved back here 3 years ago!). There were a good 7-8 inches by Monday morning! Chris did do some work from home but mostly it was a family play day which was WONDERFUL!

Daddy made pancakes and I made eggs for a late, lazy breakfast

Ella and I got all bundled up in what we could piece together for snow-wear. We weren't very well prepared since there's been so little snow!

For some reason the snow blew and was extra deep on this side of the house

the snow was too powdery to build a snowman but we ate a lot of it!

Next it was time for our new favorite family game-Hullabaloo! I highly recommend it if your kid knows shapes and colors-it's a very active, silly game which we love!
Here's a video of a tense, end of game moment in our other favorite game-Zingo! Chris and Ella each needed one tile to win (I'd already won but Ella likes to play until everyone wins.)

Finally, Ella helped me make Chicken Parmesan-Chris' favorite dinner. She was pretty good at the whole dredging process but hated that everything would stick to her fingers and kept wildly shaking bread crumbs all over the place and when I'd tell her to stop saying "but they're TOOOO dirty!!"

All together, a great day :-)

ABCs!!

Ella has been honing her pronunciation of each letter and recognizing each one accurately-she's doing great! Enjoy!
