Part of what I love about the girls' names is that they were both popular 100 years ago and many people with those names are now great-grandmas. Both names evoke a vision for me of sweet old ladies rocking away together on a porch. I pray Ella and Sadie will live meaningful lives full of love and will be enjoying each other on a front porch somewhere many years from now.

Sadie Grace

Sadie is now 7 weeks old but I figure I should start at the beginning...

Because of "significant pelvic floor damage" and corrective surgery after my natural birth with Ella, I was forbidden to do that again (no complaints here!). So, I had a scheduled C-section which went fine. Not my favorite hour (the spinal had to be done twice, my neck and shoulders were shaking uncontrollably during the whole surgery, and my doctor was chatting about her beach vacation the whole time and didn't talk to me) but we got a healthy baby out of it and the recovery wasn't too bad-by 6 weeks I felt pretty much normal again :-)

This was before my poor cold-blooded husband was told he couldn't wear his clothes under the scrubs :-(

After 2 hrs in pre-op waiting and getting my IV and all, it was time to head to the OR!

About 5 minutes into the surgery Sadie was out! Born at exactly 11am!

Sadie at 30 minutes old :-)

More to come...

  1. Yikes, I'm sorry you had such a tough recovery with Ella, but glad you were okay with the scheduled c-section for Sadie girl! She looks so teeny in the picture of the nurse showing her to you for the first time.
