So...on Saturday night I was out for a Christmas party (yes, I know it's february but it was actually really fun to stretch out the holiday and we decided to do this again on purpose next year. But I digress.) So I was out and Chris was home with Ella. They had a fun night, he put her to bed uneventfully and hadn't heard from her since. At almost 11pm when he was heading to bed he went to peek in on Ella. And SHE. WASN'T. THERE. He said he looked around her room and then started to look in the bathrooms, our bedroom, everywhere. He was starting to freak out (I would have had a heart attack by then) and went back into her room and turned on the lights and was about to start yelling for her when he found her. Safe and sound. Asleep. Where you ask? UNDER HER BED!!!!!
He moved her back into her bed, tucked her in and she went right back to sleep. We have NEVER played under her bed, pretended to sleep under her bed, nothing. When we asked her the next morning why she was sleeping there she said very nonchalantly, "because I wanted to be nice and cozy." She is SO funny!

Disney on Ice
Yesterday we went with a group of friends to see Disney on Ice! The kids loved the spectacle of it all and were totally into it even though there wasn't as much pre-school focused action or characters as I'd hoped. Nevertheless, we all had a fun time!
The kids snacked the ENTIRE show. Good thing all four moms had full purses of goodies and they didn't confiscate them at the entrance :-)
Hope was the youngest kid there and Holly didn't know if she'd be into it but she totally was!
You can tell Lexi was just humoring me with a grin for the camera...genuine happiness came later when she saw Snow White and Cinderella!
The show was pretty impressive-complete with pyrotechnics and all kinds of fancy skating tricks.
At one point we chanted "Mickey Minnie!" over and over while clapping to free them from their laser prisons (like I said, the story was a little more fitting for school-age kids than pre-school). But Ella was totally into it! I'm so thankful to be able to do things like this with her :-)

Ellglish
This is a cute video of Ella painting but it's also evidence of two very common things these days:
1)Narrating her life in song like we're in a musical (she'll do it for 30 minutes straight if we're in the car or she's playing by herself)
2)Mixing made-up words in with real words to create Ella's version of English (Ellglish)
Most of the words in her language end in "-unna" and they're usually either mixed into songs or the names of people/places/things. I have mixed feelings about this-part of me is worried she won't be able to communicate with the outside world if she keeps this up, and part of me knows it's just a phase and enjoys the silliness. Trying to lean towards the latter because if I've learned anything as a mom it's that everything is a phase :-)

The Weekend in Pictures
What an amazing Dad! And at a superbowl party no less! (he's very secure in his masculinity)
They kept these dresses on for approximately 4 hours.
This is probably the first picture in 27 years of me with curly hair and Marissa with straight hair. Weird.
Marissa didn't really like the sushi and got a little hungry...
Ella and Hope on a necklace making/lunch date. They LOVE each other.

Yebayee for all!!
The other night we got home late after a superbowl party and I was putting Ella to bed. We were snuggling after we'd done all the steps of the bedtime routine and had this conversation.
E: Mom do you know about yebayee?
Me: What?
E: Yebayee. From my school?
Me: what?? (this went back and forth for a LONG time)
E: yebayee and justice.
Me: what are you saying ella?
E: yebayee and justice for all!!
Me: (slowly wheels turn in my head...first recognition...then surprise...then shock...) Wait, "liberty and justice for all"? Do you know the pledge of allegiance???
I'm staring at Ella in disbelief at this point and sitting up in the chair where she'd been laying on me and this is what she said....(actually this is what she said after I screamed for Chris to come and bring the camera)...
I almost cried I was so proud and she was so cute. Apparently they say it at school every day but I had no idea! Since when does the 2yr old class at a preschool recite the pledge? I just didn't expect it! There's something wonderful and awful about your kid being old enough to learn things without you. Oh and excuse her slight slurring, it was about 10pm and she usually goes to bed at 7pm so she was a little out of it :-) Beautiful to a mommy's ears nonetheless.
